Dr. Stachelek obtained his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology with highest distinction from the California Institute of Technology before entering the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Yale School of Medicine. At Yale he completed his doctoral thesis in Genetics and was awarded combined MD and PhD degrees with honors. He then completed a residency in radiation oncology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He has received several funded basic science research grants and national awards. His work has focused on the molecular interactions of DNA repair pathways in response to radiation and the development of new molecules to exploit vulnerabilities in cancer cells and improve patient treatment.Dr. Stachelek has clinical experience treating all body sites with the use of advanced image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric arc therapy (VMAT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and brachytherapy. He has presented his research findings on various clinical oncology topics at national scientific meetings and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in top journals. His professional memberships include the American College of Radiation Oncology and American Society of Radiation Oncology.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, running in and around Philadelphia, traveling and learning new languages, watching Premier League soccer, and crossword puzzles.
